Humpback Whale Paper Mache Sculpture (smaller version)

A slightly smaller version of my much beloved humpback whale sculpture!

This unique and majestic creature was made by hand in my Primrose Hill studio using a coarse paper mache technique, which creates a naturally textured surface with a rugged, sea-worn, and organic appearance. It has been painted with professional-quality, highly pigmented acrylic paints in ethereal blue and turquoise hues. The wooden stand has been dyed using a dark wood stain, then potected with a few layers of Danish oil.

The sculpture measures about 37-38 cm in height (14.5 in.), including the stand. The length is approximately 30 cm (11.8 in.).

The paint is slightly water resistant and forms a protective layer, but being made from paper mache, note that in the long term the sculpture should not be kept in damp or overly humid conditions. Water cleanup should also ideally be avoided - just use a soft brush to dust the sculpture instead! A quick wipe with a damp cloth is fine as well, if necessary.

All my creatures are sculpted from scratch and painted by hand in my little studio.
